Chandigarh: The city was designed by the French architect Le Corbusier and is known for its modern infrastructure. The city is the capital of both Punjab and Haryana. Everything from the State High Court to the Chandigarh University to the Botanical garden is worth a visit. Chandigarh is the first planned city of India. The city is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding region that is rich with art, history and scenic landscapes.

Panipat: This is the first historic site of importance after leaving Delhi, and is a battlefield town near the banks of the river Yamuna. Three great battles were fought here, and no evidence remains here to suggest their importance for India and for the establishment of the Mughal Empire.

Kurukhsetra: This is a small town and the modern temple here can be described as Kitsch, an artificial reproduction of earlier temple styles. It played the central role described in the Mahabharata as the battlefield where Arjuna learned the meaning of dharma. The flat plain around Kurukshetra is described in Sanskrit literature as Brahmavarta (land of the Sages) and is regarded as particularly sacred.

Narnaul: The main town of the district of Mahendragarh, Narnaul dates back to the Mahabharata as Nar Rashtra according to legend. Another one puts it to be about 900 years old, where lions roamed free in jungles and thus the name Naharnaul.

Karnal: According to legend, this town was founded by the Kauravas around the time of the Mahabharata for the warrior Karna who was the son of Kunti and the Sun God. It is also known as a city of `Daanveer Karn`. It is known all over the world for production of Rice, Wheat and Milk. It is also known for agriculture research Institutions like NDRI, CSSRI, Wheat Research Directorate, National Bureau of Animal Genetics Resources, Sugarcane Breeding Institute etc.
Faridabad: This is again a bustling industrial town and one of the oldest towns in the state although the district itself is the 12th one to be formed.

Gurgaon: About 30kms from the centre of New Delhi and a fast developing city, Gurgaon is perhaps the most important of all Haryana towns. Gurgaon is perhaps the fastest developing city in northern India, and its proximity to New Delhi helps. Real estate is booming here with new buildings coming up faster than you can count them, and even offices are being relocated from congested and contaminated New Delhi. Another plus for this city is its proximity to the New Delhi’s International airport which is just 15kms away.
